Welcome to BADV’s “DIGANTA”

Welcome to BADV’s Bangla school “DIGANTA”

We are happy to announce that BADV’s new Bangla school “Diganta” is officially established today 08/19/2022, and its first class will start from September 18th, 2022 at Hockessin Delaware from 1.30 PM to 3.30 PM. The address of the temple is 760 Yorklyn Road, Hockessin, DE. We are excited about the new name “Diganta” which invokes the idea of “sky is the limit”.

Dolly Chatterjee has agreed to be an “interim coordinator” until a more long-term faculty is appointed for BADV’s “Diganta” Bangla School. Dolly has gone through rigorous training by the National Foreign Language Center (NFLC) at the University of Maryland.

The NFLC led the development and updating of principles for effective teaching and learning known as the STARTALK principles, which guide classroom instruction and teacher training. The NFLC also provided many resources surrounding these principles, such as curriculum templates, to plan effective instruction to meet and document stated course objectives. STARTALK’s mission is to increase the number of U.S. citizens learning, speaking, and teaching critical-need foreign languages, with programs for students (K-16) and teachers.  It is a project funded by the National Security Agency and administered by the National Foreign Language Center at the University of Maryland.

We have 3 more teachers in the school who will teach your Children with immersion principles where learning will be fun and meaningful.  Teachers will infuse the study of language and culture with the use of authentic materials. Immersion learning and theme-based units with specifically chosen topics focus students’ learning and retention of a second language. Teachers will be trained to use “backward design” to determine grade level goals with clear learning objectives and achieve them through lesson activities that emulate real-life situations. We cordially welcome your children to a new horizon of enhanced hands-on learning experiences.
