“Help India” COVID Crisis Fund
The following criteria are being used for the purpose of choosing an organization through which to send your donated money to India:
- The organization must have universal approval for its good work.
- They must be eligible to do public charity in India.
- They must be actively involved in giving relief for the COVID-19 cause.
- We will only donate the money as a dollar amount in the US. This will keep a clear paper trail for our BADV accounts.
- We can donate to more than one organization.
Several seniors in the community have kindly served as consultants in this search. Many thanks to Chandan Nath, Bachaspati Roy, Tia Mukerji, Arjun Sau, Asoke Chatterjee, Tapan Mallik, Tapan Das for their time and attention. We have also consulted extensively with with top level officers of Sewa International and Vedanta Society (the American branch of Ramakrishna Mission). As our first choice we have come up with Sewa Internationaland are sending them a check for $3089.98 for oxygen concentrators. We have collected much so far.
The fundraising drive will continue as time goes on, and we are inviting suggestions from you, dear members for names of excellent organizations to which the money can be sent next time. Please include as much information about the organization as possible.
