- All the collections from distributing food with the help of our fabulous volunteers have finally been compiled. As you know the Mongol Shondhya cultural program was the force behind these collections, and we were spellbound by the talented work of the performers and awesome paintings by the artists.
- Collections from food came to $1,130.00. An additional $2,920.00 was received as donations partly from our own BADV members, and heavily augmented by other community members/friends to whom we had reached out. We sincerely appreciate you, dear friends, for your generosity and your willingness to promptly step up when the need arose.
- The total amount of 4,050.00 will be sent to Vedanta society of Washington DC. They, in turn will send it to their Ram Krishna mission centers which are working throughout India. The initiative to choose this organization was first taken by Tia Mukerji and Chandan Nath. Bachaspati Roy conducted further correspondence with the organization regarding number of centers throughout India including West Bengal and the procedure to help people in the covid impacted areas. We have also verified that they are licensed by the govt. of India to receive foreign funds. Ram Krishna Mission has fulfilled all the four criteria for which it is chosen.
The 4 criteria mentioned in a previous bulletin were as follows:
- The organization must have universal approval for its good work.
- They must be eligible to do public charity in India.
- They must be actively involved in giving relief for the COVID-19 cause.
- We will only donate the money as a dollar amount in the US. This will keep a clear paper trail for our BADV accounts.
Mongol Sondhya has been our second project to raise donations for “Help India” covid crisis. The total amount we collected including the first initiative has been $7,139.00. The first donation of $3,089.00xxxxx had been sent to Sewa International in beginning of May 2021.
We are very proud of Badv members and our other community friends for donating for this cause.
